(explanation of where it was taken and why this place was chosen)

This picture was taken in the "Marais Poitevin", which is also called "la Venise Verte" (the green Venice). It's a swamp located in the county of "Poitou-Charentes". We like this place because we visited it with our class when we were in 3ème (Year 9). It was very fun because we were on a small boat and a man pushed it with a very long stick.  Suddenly, the man stopped the boat and shook its stick in the water. Then he flicked the lighter and the flame became very big! It was because there is a lot of gas in the water of the swamp.

(explanation of why this picture was chosen in particular and description of the picture)

We chose this picture because it remembers us this happy moment. What is more, we find this place beautiful! Everything is green, there is no human construction visible and the scene is very peaceful. It's also a bit magical because, there are so many green lentils that it makes you think you can walk on water. This picture is also very representative of the county in which it was taken. Indeed, "Poitou-Charentes" is a county where nature is very present.

(explanation of what makes the area where the picture was taken special)

What makes this place special is that there are a lot of interesting species leaving in it. Some of them are endangered, like the eels which babies were fished intensively to be sold at a very high price. However, some of these animals are dangerous for the swamp's ecosystem. For example, coypus were introduced in France during the 19th century, they were, in fact, imported from South America for its fur. Now these animals are digging tunnels in the swamp which causes floods. What is more, they also eat farmers' crops, and, as they are reproducing very fast, coypus are considered as a plague.
